Garage door repair costs: what to expect in North Broward
Nobody publishes a reliable price list for Coral Springs, Parkland, Coconut Creek, or Margate specifically, so this guide uses published national cost data and explains what tends to push a North Broward job above or below it. Treat the numbers as a sanity check for quotes, not a promise.
Typical ranges by repair
| Repair | Typical range | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Spring replacement (one door) | $150 to $350, about $250 on average | Angi, 2026 |
| Springs (by part) | $180 to $350 | HomeAdvisor |
| Opener repair | $100 to $500 | HomeAdvisor |
| Cables | $100 to $400 | HomeAdvisor |
| Track | $5 to $400 | HomeAdvisor |
| Panel replacement | $250 to $1,000 | HomeAdvisor |
| Window glass | $100 to $200 | HomeAdvisor |
For a Florida comparison, Angi's Tampa page puts spring replacement at about $252 on average, between roughly $151 and $353.
Springs: torsion vs. extension
Angi lists extension springs at about $50 to $100 each and torsion springs at about $75 to $150 each, before the service call and labor. Converting from extension to torsion runs about $400 to $800. If one spring on a two-spring door breaks, most technicians recommend replacing both so the door stays balanced; that costs more today but usually saves a second visit.
What pushes a North Broward job higher
- Hurricane-rated doors. Broward is in the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone. Reinforced, wind-rated doors are heavier, so they need stronger springs, and panels or struts must match the door's product approval. Replacing a panel on an impact-rated door can cost more than on a basic door.
- Full replacement instead of repair. Swapping the whole door is permitted work and needs an approved product. See our permit and hurricane code guide.
- After-hours or weekend calls. Many providers add an emergency or after-hours fee. Ask before they dispatch.
- Two- and three-car doors. Angi lists springs for two doors at about $275 to $425 and three doors at about $350 to $700.
- Salt air and humidity. Coastal South Florida conditions can rust springs, cables, and hardware sooner, which sometimes turns a one-part fix into several.
How to read a quote
- Ask for the price of parts and labor separately, plus any trip or diagnostic fee, and whether that fee is waived if you go ahead with the repair.
- Ask for the spring type, size, and cycle rating. Higher-cycle springs cost more but last longer.
- Get the parts and labor warranty in writing.
- Be wary of a low phone quote that grows on site. Ask what would make the final price differ from the estimate.
- Check the provider's license. In Florida, you can look up contractor licenses on the DBPR license search, and Broward County also issues local contractor certificates.
Is DIY worth it?
Lubricating rollers, cleaning photo-eye sensors, and reprogramming remotes are reasonable homeowner jobs. Springs and cables hold hundreds of pounds of tension and are the most common cause of garage door injuries, so leave those to a professional.
